Pole/bungee lathe

The pole lathe design is the same as those that have evolved for our courses. They are made to order in our own workshop.

The lathes can be run off a traditional pole (not supplied but easy to find in the woods!) or more commonly with the bungee set-up, which offers the benefit of easy portability and limited space usage. The lathes are made from solid oak with an oil finish, the poppets are secured with oak wedges, and fitted with custom made solid stainless steel crank and centre. The legs are variable height enabling the lathe to be used by everyone, from very tall turners down to children. Supplied with 2 sizes of tool rest and packers. The treadle is made from oak and ash and plenty of chainsaw cord to get you started.

The lathe bolts together for easy transport and storage.

Shaving horse

This shaving horse design is the same as the ones that we have developed for our courses. They offer various adjustments to enable a multitude of sizes of wood to be gripped. They have a softwood seat and grip with everything else made from oak or ash. Two heights of footrest allow tall users and children to use the same horse.

'Bowl dog'

Well, that's what we call them! These are really portable carving benches designed to hold a bowl blank/log in various positions very quickly. The design has evolved through experience gained running our bowl carving courses.

Three ash or oak 50mm diameter legs ensure stability on any surface; supplied with two sets of three oak 'dogs', one for small work, one for large. These dogs have long tennons that locate on the base and have a series of steps to aid grip.

A simple design that solves the age old problem of repositioning the work in progress. Supplied with restraining strap.

Large Brazier & BBQ

So many guests have wanted to buy the braziers we use during the courses that we have now included them here in the shop.

They are very sturdy and at 880 mm diameter they can be used both for large fires for gatherings and for BBQs with the addition of the (included) stainless steel cooking grill. We have been using ours for years and think that they are a great product, both at home in the garden and in the woods for camping.
